China to ban ‘all synthetic cannabinoids’ via class wide scheduling


The Chinese Ministry of Public Security, the National Health Board of Health and the State Drug Administration have announced plan to ban all synthetics cannabinoids via several ‘generic statements’ controlled all chemical space related to synthetics cannabinoids. This is in addition to its Fentanyl generic statement first enacted in 2019. Read more….

China has only recently joined a long list of countries who have turned to class wide or generic statements which in great detail outline what chemical space is and isn’t considered controlled. The USA, UK, Belgium, Poland, Switzerland and France to name a few also enact similar but different class wide controls. It will become law on the 1st July 2021.

ChinaCannabinoidsR 1 represents a substituted or unsubstituted C 3 -C 8 hydrocarbon group ; substituted or unsubstituted heterocyclic group containing 1-3 heteroatoms; substituted or unsubstituted heterocyclic group containing 1-3 heteroatoms substituted Methyl or ethyl.

R 2 represents hydrogen or methyl or no atoms.

R 3 represents a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 10 aryl group; a substituted or unsubstituted C 3 -C 10 hydrocarbon group; a substituted or unsubstituted heterocyclic group containing 1 to 3 heteroatoms; substituted or unsubstituted Substituted methyl or ethyl substituted with a heterocyclic group containing 1-3 heteroatoms.

R 4 represents hydrogen; substituted or unsubstituted phenyl; substituted or unsubstituted benzyl.

R 5 represents a substituted or unsubstituted C 3 -C 10 hydrocarbon group.

X stands for N or C.

Y stands for N or CH.

Z represents O or NH or no atom.
